WATERFRONT REDEVELOPMENT
Redevelopment and strategic planning for coastal city in New Jersey, USA. The city occupies a beautiful waterfront over the Jersey Shore, and is considered one of the best summer destination in NJ. During the rest of the year, the town suffers from low rates of visitors and occupancy. The redevelopment plan assessed the potentials and challenges of the city, and proposed a vision to enhance a sustainable economical growth through urban design and development strategies. The design proposal utilized the existing sand dunes used for flood protection to also serve as a recreational multi-use space for the community, and a pathway for pedestrian and bicycles.
The proposal included a master plan for three districts, and proposed a hierarchy for the building heights to maintain scenic water views and increase sun light exposure across the city.
